Wisteria floribunda ‘Mon Nishiki’ (ex: Jonathan Lehrer) – This is an old Japanese Wisteria cultivar whose translation is “brocade cloth”. The pinnate compound ferny leaves are completely speckled and splashed with lots of creamy yellow. The leaves light up in the filtered shade to part sun exposure ‘Mon Nishiki’ prefers. Typical flowers are in the blue-purple range flowering in mid-May on 8” to 20” long racemes. ‘Mon Nishiki’ will be content in fertile draining soil amended with a handful or two of lime at the time of planting.
