Lyonia ligustrina - Large clusters of dangling urn-shaped blueberry-like flowers in pure white occur in June. It is somewhat adaptable to sandy earth but happiest in constantly moist to wet acid soils. In an apparent oxymoron the common name is "maleberry"... Why? We haven't a clue! Dark green leathery foliage with a satin sheen turns a striking maroon-purple in autumn. Though of long-ranging nativity ours is from northern New England provenance. Site in full to part sun in constantly moist acid soil. Cutting grown.
