Glaucidium palmatum var. leucanthum (aka var. album) - The beautiful pure white version of Japanese Woodland Poppy. Individual flowers may span 3 inches diameter unfolding in early to mid-spring. The somewhat bold palmate leaves remain clean and green all season and are a good counterpoint to variegated Solomon Seals, ferns and, indeed, any delicate woodland denizen. Late season seedpods are curious – like enormous paired maple seeds on steroids without the wings! Plant in fertile woodland conditions in dappled to open shade. In the north spring planting is strongly recommended. Fertile, moisture retaining soil is required. Newly arrived from Japan.
