Zenobia pulverulenta 'Raspberry' (aka 'Raspberry Ripple') - Originally offered by the still terribly-missed Heronswood Nursery this version of Dusty Zenobia offers pink flowers. Flowers are large, dangling in axillary clusters and smell of licorice in late spring to early summer. New stems holding leaves and flowers are red. Green leaves with a satin gloss turn gorgeous autumn tones in confetti colors. The leaves remain on the shrubs well into December here in northeastern Connecticut. All younger stems are tawny in the winter landscape. We're uncertain as to where Heronswood, e.g. Dan Hinkley happened upon this plant; so, we're unsure if it was originally found in the wild or if it is of garden origin. This fine specie hales from the southeastern U.S. Full sun to part shade in average to fertile soil that holds on to some moisture between rains. Neutral to acid soils are preferred. Establised potted shrub from cutting.
