Ulmus americana 'Princeton' - ON SITE ONLY. The classic vase-shaped American Elm. This conjurer of Norman Rockwell nostalgia is a tree that lined streets and was grown as specimens in grandparents' backyards. This is the true American Elm, the selection having been made nearly a century ago by William Flemer. It exhibits moderately good resistance to Dutch Elm Disease which is why its still available. It also repels Elm Leaf Beetle. In these trying times perhaps a little nostalgia is a good remedy. The simple green serrated leaves pick up good yellow fall color. Ulmus americana is / was native to most of North America save the western states of New Mexico, north through Utah and Idaho west to the Pacific including Alaska. Ulmus american is / was presint in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Full sun in fertile ground.
