The spathe of Arisaema thunbergii is striking. This is a pic of the straight green-leaved species, not the patterned leaf selection.

Arisaema thunbergii "pattern selection" - Irregular silver inlays at the centers of each blade-like leaf are in striking contrast to the blackened spathes each with a long whip-like tail emanating from the peak of the hood. The base of each spathe is whiter with fine purple specklings. The interior white sets off the black spadix. The variegated leaves, 11 to 15 in number set in a virtual peltate pattern like spokes radiating from the top of each stem. The pewter centers light up in shade; the gestalt is fine contrast to other woodland denizens with both fine or bold leaves. This Asian Jack-in-the-Pulpit will want fertile but draining soil - it can be grown a bit drier than many of its cousins. Morning sun, dappled light to open shade. Potted bulb. These are newly arrived and not established but the bulbs are solid and handsome.
