Tsuga canadensis 'Wood Rose' - This Canadian Hemlock is a dwarf form that grows into an upright gumdrop becoming a bit more conically-shaped in time. A young shrub sports many white needles. 'Wood Rose' will grow to approximately 4 to 5 feet by 3 to 4 feet wide in 10 to 12 years. If pruned the newer stems sport more of the white needles; when allowed to grow up the shrub becomes greener but with a ghostly cast. Foliage when viewed at certain angles appears white. The native range for Canadian Hemlock is Manitoba east to Labrador, south to South Carolina, Tennessee and north to Minnesota. Organic, acid, moisture retaining soil in part sun, dappled light or open shade. Established potted shrub, cutting grown. Please read the Genus Overview below.
