Lysichiton americanus 'Cheek-by-Jowl' - An unusual form of Western Skunk Cabbage (lovely!) with many numbers of and an increasing number of crowns densely set on a single plant. This particular form of Yellow Skunk Cabbage (lovelier!!) may top off at about 30 inches. The 'Cheek by Jowl' selection of American Skunk Cabbage (loveliest!!!) was spotted by Edith Dusek near Carbonado in Pierce County, Washington. (Regardless of its common name the Skunk Cabbages are fascinating and oddly beautiful aroids.) She relayed the location of this population to the fine folks at Far Reaches Farm. Beautiful yellow arum flowers in March are showy and bright on the Swamp Lantern (mostest loveliest!!!!) at a time of the new season when life just begins to stir. If happy and pollinated red berries may form in the autumn. Nice. Plant this fascinating member of Araceae in fertile, constantly moist to wet soil sited in early season sun but a spot that as the season progresses becomes partly to dappled shade avoiding hot afternoon sun.
