Physochlaina orientalis – Handsome perennial in the Solanaceae with terminal clusters of purple, tubular flowers in spring arising with the new leaves. Triangular-shaped leaves emerge red to red-purple and mature dark green with a purple underside. This came our way from Jon Lehrer who characterized this perennial as "choice". Even in flower Physochlaina orientalis grows at most 20 inches tall making this a good rock garden candidate that will draw plenty of bees. Plant in well-draining soil with full sun siting. Established pot grown plant from cutting or division.
