Achlys triphylla – Vanilla Leaf from the Pacific Northwest forms many 2” white spiked flowers from May to July atop 12” to 20” tall wiry stems. The three-lobed broadly serrated leaves form a bold, somewhat rounded umbrella up to 6” across. Vanilla leaf is an herbaceous perennial from rhizomes preferring a rich and cool draining acid soil planted in woodland shade where it will form a solid ground cover. We wish Vanilla Leaf was hardy here! Division.
