Drimiopsis maculata 'Slow Fade' (ex: Jonathan Lehrer; tentatively identified, this genus is taxonomically confused) - Each broad, rich green leaf with a gentle undulation all around the leaf margin is heavily dotted with elliptical brown-maroon spots that hold up well and long into summer heat on this African Hosta... again: NOT a hosta. Ugh! Common names!! Besides the elongated spotting another difference with the straight species is that the leaves are slightly larger. Site 'Slow Fade' in full to nearly full sun for best performance planted in fertile, draining soil. This variant was found in Thailand by Yucca Do Nursery. If purchased in autumn where it can be planted outdoors it would be wise to hold indoors until spring. Keep all South African bulbs drier in winter. Multiple potted bulbs.
